Hens House Publishing

Hen's House Press is a small press with a simple belief: the right story, told well, deserves a home.

We publish a curated selection of romance and mystery fiction, books with strong narrative voice, characters worth rooting for, and stories that stick with readers after the last page.

How it works

What publishing with Hen’s House looks like

We operate as a traditional small press, which means:

We don’t charge authors to publish. We invest in editing, design, and production. You focus on the writing.

Authors receive royalties from sales. Rights and contract terms are discussed openly before anything is signed, no surprises.

We work closely with our authors through the editorial and production process. Your vision for the book stays intact. That’s the whole point.

What we're looking for

What we want to read

Right now we’re open to romance and mystery fiction. Within those genres, we’re pretty wide open to subgenres, blends, and books that don’t fit neatly into a single category are welcome.

What we’re actually looking for is simpler than a checklist: a story that pulls us in, a voice we haven’t heard before, and characters we’re not ready to leave when it’s over.

If your book has that, we want to hear about it.

Submissions

How to submit

Submissions are open. Here’s what to send:

A pitch for your book: what it’s about, who it’s for, and why it’s the story you had to tell. No formal query letter format required. Just tell us about your book in your own words.

The first three chapters of your manuscript, pasted into the body of your email or attached as a Word document or PDF.

Send both to henshousepublishing@gmail.com with the subject line: Submission: [Title], [Genre]

We read every submission and respond to all of them. Response times vary depending on volume, but we’ll be in touch.

Closing Note

Hen’s House is a small operation run by a working author who knows exactly how much it costs to put a book into the world in time, money, and courage. We take that seriously. If you trust us with your manuscript, we’ll treat it with the care it deserves.
